Adversity is the state in which we most easily become acquainted with our self. – John Wooden
By the time I saw my first client in 2010, I had experienced drought, abuse, significant loss and grief, anxiety and lived through a childhood of family dysfunction.
Early in my initial client experiences I began to realise how much I was able to relate to clients and understand how the thought patterns and reactions had been developed. Fortunately, I had been faced with many similar mental challenges and patterns of thinking that did not benefit me. My commitment to investigating many therapies for my own personal development assisted my clients to find solutions for their recovery.
My own journey to find ‘the answer’ helped me to realise that talking about the problem did not hold the solution.
My first business, Resonate Hypnotherapy was opened in 2011 in Darlington Western Australia.
My journey into mental health really began after enduring a drought in a Midwest farming community. Married, pregnant with our second child we woke every day to dust, death and desperation. Struggling with helplessness, hopelessness and despair we desperately searched for solutions to our situation, to which there were none. Our desolated community was struggling to not suffocate under the challenges.
Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.
My passion to discover faster and more effective treatments began to evolve as I witnessed people who I loved, disappearing into depression. My studies in psychology appeared futile, compared with the dire situation. My anguish compelled me to search for alternatives which offered hope, as we were failed by mainstream mental health treatments.
To improve and increase my knowledge, I invested time and studied with international psychologists, doctors, therapists and teachers in Melbourne, Queensland, NSW, USA and Perth. Additionally I studied hypnosis, psychotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, counselling, and other non-conventional techniques while continuing with to study psychology. I exposed myself to anything that offered a release, realignment or reprogramming. Gradually I felt clearer, more in control of my thoughts and actions. I stopped anxiety and overthinking. I stopped overreacting! I then shared the most effective skills with my clients. This integrative medicine approach uses all appropriate therapeutic approaches—conventional and non-mainstream—within a framework that focuses on mental and physical health, the therapeutic relationship, and the whole person. It really worked!
Taking this integrative approach, I developed TraumaClear®, a technique which clears the emotions of traumatic memory in minutes. As my experience grew, I developed programs to support people to stop anxiety, AnxietyClear® and AddictionClear to stop addictions and Mind Matters, which focused on other mental health challenges such as stress and relationship issues.
Damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive. —Josephine Hart
Often as we heal, we begin to see our situation differently. I began to build confidence in myself. After enduring a co-dependent 20-year marriage it was beyond me how to change another person (and still is). We can provide solutions, support and strategies, but if they are not applied it is all futile. My devotion and commitment ended to save myself.
Within six months I understood about acrimonious divorces! Three years and many tears and heartache later, the separation was final. On my darkest days it was only my two daughters that gave me strength to keep going. Some days the only thing that was certain was that the sun would rise.
This painful learning allowed me to appreciate the value of optimum relationship skills! What not to do was the first lesson! Dedicated to not reliving my past I developed knowledge and skills in communication, individual perspectives, presentations skills and reinforced my fundament belief about the importance of a good relationship with yourself as a cornerstone to every good relationship.
All my lived experience and integrative techniques have helped me to support many people to change and succeed in their desired result. I feel privileged to do the work I do as I continue to develop projects, programs and on-line learnings to reach more people. I am grateful for my suffering as it is in these moment that we learn the most.
Thank you for your interest in my journey so far…
Life is the movie you see through your won unique eyes. It makes little difference what’s happening out there. It’s how you take it that counts. - Denis Waitley.
